Emera's body was covered with sweat as the dreams of the fiery red stallion coursed through her mind. Her black coat glimmered as the early dawn sun crept around her. She trembled and her breathing grew heavy.
Emera and Ella dozed softly in the rays of the morning sun. Fajer had woke them early telling them he would be back he was going in search of food and would come back for them when he found a nice place to graze. The distant sound of a galloping horse came to their ears waking them from their slumber. Thinking it was Fajer they stood calmly waiting for him to arrive. As the sound of flints against sand grew louder Emera noticed it wasn't the smooth strides of Fajer but it was an off beat stride almost cynical sounding. She stood stock still knowing who that quirky off beat stride belonged to. She trembled and Ella looked at her with an odd expression on her face. As the sound intensified Emera had the urge to flee but she stood her ground hoping he would not catch their scent. Her hopes must not have been heard as the sound grew louder it suddenly stopped. She looked up and on the very same sand dune Ella had fallen down there stood the regal red stallion. In his eyes were pure satisfaction as they locked onto Emera's. He looked at them with an evil smile and reared up into the sky letting out a piercing scream of victory. His coat was full of well toned slim muscles from him hunting Emera. Emera let out a piercing scream full of hatred and a terrifying dread. He had stalked her like a wolf stalks its prey and now that he had his he was going in for the kill.
Emera snapped awake as she felt a swift kick come from her belly. She looked around quickly and there was no sign of the red stallion and Fajer was still asleep soundly at her feet. She turned her head around and nudged her belly slightly as if to calm the small life that grew in it. She had grown larger and knew it would please Fajer. She waited for the others to stir. Sweat still clinged to her black coat but she was calm now. She listened to see if she could here distant hoof beats.
