Arabella looked at him with surprise in her eyes. She stepped back from him shock in her eyes. She arched her graceful neck sideways to try and get a better look at him and his intentions she then whispered," Runaway! You have a lead mare and a foal on the way it... I ... " She couldn't finish her words. She wanted so much to do what he asked but she was not without a concsience.

Ace realized that what he asked was wrong. He did have a foal on the way, his foal, that he and Ebony were supposed to take care of. Together. But Ebony didn't like to play like Arabella, and she was more serious than playful...he lied down on the sand, trying to get out of his confusion.

Arabella looked at his sadness in her eyes she wished so much they could do what he had proposed which would have been possible if Ebony wasn't pregnant but they had met to late. The time was not right for them. She lowered her head sadness showing in her fiery eyes. Why could they not have met sooner? Why had fate given her something so sweet but let it leave a bitter taste in her mouth like the salty sea grass. She walked away slowly and stopped nibbling on the grasses that grew in the sand and thingying one ear toward Ace.

Ace dozed off quietly without warning. He dreamed of him and Arabella, then Ebony coming into his dream angrily and trying to hurt the mare which couldn't be his. He woke up suddenly, it was dusk. He looked around frantically, trying to find Arabella.

Arabella was gazing out at the full moon. The cloudless summer night was amazing and she admired the silver beauty that hung in the sky. The silver light spread across the beach giving her frame a ghostly look with the contrasting of her tobiano coat. The a slight breeze picked up making her tresses float through the air like a phantom in the night. She knew if she stayed here with Ace Ebony would soon find out the feelings they held for each other but if she left it would be like she never existed... She gazed at the moon with the sadness in her eyes clearly showing at the tough decision she was having to make. She sighed and continued gazing at the moon not knowing what to do.

Ace spotted Arabella watching the moon nearby. It was a fantastic night...Ace wanted to go to her but he somehow knew she was trying to make a decision of wether to stay or leave. Ace knew he had to let her decide by herself, so he stayed where he was, keeping his gaze on Arabella.

Arabella turned glancing back at Ace and seen he was now awake and watching her. She turned away gazing back to the moon as if it would answer the questions she had inside of her. She then glanced at Ebony already starting to show the signs of a mare expecting a foal. She knew the she herself loved Ace but did he love her? Did he love Ebony? She could not come to a decision. She finally plopped down in the sand just out of reach of the waves and looked out across the ocean. It was amazing to see at night. She wished she had showed up a bit sooner but fate had given her a decision and she had no clue which was the right one to make.

Ace decided to get up. He trotted over to Arabella slowly, then lied down next to her, nipping at her mane playfully.

She heard the sound of approching flints and prayed it wasn't Ebony but as they got closer she came to recognize Ace's stride. She smiled as he nipped her playfully when he laid down next to her. She looked at him through sad eyes and whispered while gazing at the moon, " What shall I do? You already have a life that did not include me. If I stay I'll disrupt everything that you've worked for... tell me what you want " her voice was disheartened and confused she was at a loss of what to do.

Ace shook his head. "I am lost, too," he said, "I have no ideas left..." he stuffed his nose into the sand, then took it out. "Well, you could stay. If Ebony shows anger toward you, then it shows she must not be loyal or kind. I cannot let her scare away any new mare that may come into my herd."

Arabella sighed at his words. " Well I will stay for now but I'm not promising you it will be forever. There is only so much one can take of seeing somone they care for deeply with another. " she replied her words barely distinguishable. She wished it was easier. She turned her head and rested it on Ace's back trying to think of a simpler way out of the mess she had gotten herself into.

Ace sniffed the air, smelling the salty breeze. A wave washed up over his hooves. He turned his neck around as well on Arabella's back and rested his eyes, but being careful not to fall asleep.

Arabella slowly began to groom his withers and started to drift off to sleep. She was so comfortable she couldn't help herself. She was asleep in a matter of minutes.

Ace smiled when Arabella fell asleep and then he fell to sleep too. The breeze felt so good against his mane...it tangled with Arabella's, but he didn't notice for he was already asleep.

Ebony awoke with a jolt, she had been dreaming of her stallion. She trotted over to the sea to find her man. She turned around slowly when she heard breathing and noticed Ace lying with Arabella, he had not even come to see how she and the foal were doing. She splashed her face in the cool, salty water, he was being friendly, just friendly. But she couldn't help wonder if there was more to Arabella than met the eye.
